Perimenopause & Menopause Care

A modern, evidence-based approach to supporting women through one of the most significant transitions in health.

At Luum Vitality, we care for many women who arrive feeling unheard, dismissed, or uncertain about what is happening in their bodies. Too often, this stage of life is minimised - leaving women to navigate complex and disruptive symptoms on their own.

You are not alone in this experience.
And you do not have to go through it unsupported.

Menopause is a natural life stage that every woman will experience, yet many reach it feeling unprepared for the changes it can bring. As the ovaries gradually reduce production of oestrogen and progesterone, the body begins a transition that affects far more than the menstrual cycle. For most women, menopause occurs between the ages of 45 and 55. However, symptoms often begin years earlier during perimenopause - and for some, as early as their 30s.

A New Standard of Care

Menopause is not something to endure - it is something to understand and navigate with the right support.

At Luum Vitality, we are here to ensure you feel informed, supported, and in control - so you can move through this stage with confidence, vitality, and clarity.

Understanding the Transition

Perimenopause is a phase of hormonal fluctuation, where shifting levels of oestrogen and progesterone can influence multiple systems within the body.

Every woman’s experience is unique. You may notice one symptom, or many.

Common symptoms include:

  • Hot flushes and night sweats

  • Sleep disturbance

  • Mood changes and anxiety

  • Fatigue and brain fog

  • Reduced libido

  • Vaginal dryness

However, symptoms can extend far beyond this. Many women also experience:

  • Skin and hair changes

  • Weight fluctuations and metabolic shifts

  • Joint pain and headaches

  • Heart palpitations

  • Bladder or urinary symptoms

  • Dizziness or increased sensitivity to stress

Because hormones influence the brain, skin, metabolism, bones, and cardiovascular system, this is not simply about periods stopping - it is a whole-body transition.

Our Approach

At Luum Vitality, we take a personalised and comprehensive approach to menopause care - focused on restoring balance, supporting your symptoms, and optimising long-term health.

Our care may include:

  • Comprehensive clinical assessmentbased on your symptoms, history, and life stage

  • Advanced blood testing to assess overall health, identify contributing factors, and rule out underlying imbalances

  • Targeted hormone therapy, where appropriate, tailored to your individual needs

  • Nutritional and supplement protocols to support hormonal balance, skin health, and energy

  • Sleep and stress support to regulate the nervous system and improve recovery

  • Weight and metabolic support aligned with hormonal changes

Rather than relying on a single marker, we interpret your results in context - looking beyond standard ranges to understand how your body is functioning as a whole.

Common Myths

This is one of the most widespread misconceptions in menopause care. Much of this concern originated from early interpretations of the 2002 Women’s Health Initiative study. For many years, Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) was widely linked to breast cancer following that study, however, our understanding has evolved significantly. The original research largely involved older women, many years post-menopause, and used synthetic hormones including conjugated equine estrogens derived from pregnant horse urine — formulations that differ considerably from the bioidentical hormones commonly prescribed today. Modern HRT is often individualised, lower dose, and uses body-identical estrogen and progesterone designed to more closely mimic the body’s natural hormones. More recent evidence suggests that for many healthy women, particularly when started around the time of menopause under medical guidance, the benefits of HRT can outweigh the risks, and the breast cancer risk is far more nuanced than once believed. In fact declining hormone levels are associated with accelerated bone loss, increased cardiovascular risk, changes in cholesterol and vascular health, cognitive and mood changes, sleep disturbance, genitourinary symptoms, skin and collagen decline, and reduced muscle mass and metabolic health. HRT has been shown to help prevent or reduce the progression of osteoporosis and fractures, support cardiovascular health when started around menopause, improve sleep, mood, brain fog and vasomotor symptoms, and significantly improve vaginal, urinary and sexual health. Emerging evidence also suggests potential benefits for skin quality, connective tissue integrity and overall healthy ageing.

Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) causes cancer.

Treatment can often begin during perimenopause, when symptoms first arise. Many women experience significant disruption years before their cycles cease completely. If symptoms are impacting your quality of life, support is available - and appropriate - well before menopause is reached.

You need to wait until your periods stop before starting treatment.

While hot flushes are commonly recognised, menopause affects far more than temperature regulation - and some women never experience them at all. Hormone receptors exist throughout the body, meaning changes can impact the brain, skin, metabolism, bones, heart, and urogenital system. Symptoms are wide-ranging and deeply individual, which is why a personalised, whole-body approach to care is essential.

Menopause only causes hot flushes.
